Compare boards, patterns and layouts for the same room
Choosing a floor usually means choosing between a couple: wide planks or standard ones, herringbone or a straight lay. Each choice changes the waste, the cutting and the price, and you only find out by how much in your room once it is laid out.
Floor Optimizer re-lays the floor every time you change the boards, the pattern or the goal, so trying an option takes seconds. To keep options side by side, duplicate the project and change one thing in the copy.

What is Floor Optimizer?
Floor Optimizer is an online flooring layout planner for DIYers and flooring fitters. You draw your room or whole floor plan to your measurements, enter the boards you plan to buy and pick a laying pattern, and it places every board in your actual room shape. From that layout it works out the waste, the exact packs to buy and a board-by-board cut list, so the floor is planned before anything is bought or cut. It runs in the browser on a computer, tablet or phone.

Frequently asked questions
- Can I compare two flooring products for one room?
- Yes. Enter the first, then change the board size and price and the floor re-lays. Duplicate the project to keep both versions.
- Do I need to redraw the room for each option?
- No. A duplicate copies the room plan, the boards and every setting, so you only change what you are comparing.
- Does a duplicate keep my room unlock?
- No. A copy is a new project, so its full figures come with Pro or its own unlock. Inside an unlocked room you can try as many boards and patterns as you like.
- Can I compare directions too?
- Yes. With the Less waste or Fewer cuts goal, the Direction cards show the floor along, across and on the diagonal, and mark which wastes least or cuts least.
